The St. Andrew's Society will host the 174th Annual Highland Games at Greenmead on Saturday, Aug. 5, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Highland Games is a celebration of Scottish culture and heritage. As a part of this celebration, the following events and activities take place: continuous entertainment featuring national and regional artists, pipe band competition, heavy athletic competition, Highland Dance competition, “Parade of Clans” featuring clans from across the USA, diverse marketplace of Celtic crafts, merchandise and collectibles, Scottish and other food vendors.
The Wee Bairns area will be open for the children from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Activities include: Color a shield for protection on the journey, take a wee tour of Scotland, Wee Bairns Sheep Toss, toss a wee caber, fishing in Loch Ness, conquer the castle be attacking with a catapult and meet Nessie.
Gates open at 8 a.m. Free shuttle from Schoolcraft available. Ticket information available at highlandgames.com
