The City of Livonia has released its 2020 Annual Report, titled Progress in a Pandemic.
There was not much about 2020 that we could have predicted, with one exception — Livonia would rise to the challenge. That includes our City’s elected officials, leadership team and 635 employees. Every day, I am proud of the work we do, our ability to adapt, our dedication to excellence and our determination to be the best. While it is impossible to document all the remarkable work done, that is exactly what we’ve tried to do in creating a new template for telling Livonia’s story with this new and improved annual report.
The report is a data-rich overview of the work of our City departments. It also looks at special initiatives such as Together Livonia Cares, our effort to support Livonia’s many long-term care facilities amidst the challenges that COVID-19 has presented.
As we look to the year ahead, one of our top priorities is implementing Livonia Vision 21, the City’s community-inspired, resident-driven master plan. Guided by a 16-member steering committee that engaged thousands of residents in conversation about our community’s future, Livonia Vision 21 is a dynamic plan to support our neighborhoods, advance healthy living, build on the success of our parks and recreation offerings, expand our diversity and inclusion efforts, and encourage economic development that will position the City for continued success in the decades to come.
We’ve only just begun to envision where our community can go. The possibilities are magnificent. If we dream boldly, plan wisely, and move with determination, Livonia will be the place our children want to come home to. As always, I am incredibly proud and grateful to serve our Livonia community.
