Parks and Recreation Winter Bingo

The kids are on winter break. The holidays are here, but with fewer gatherings than usual. Well, we’ve got a fun activity for your entire household to fill your free time. Livonia Parks and Recreation Winter Bingo has a wide array of 25 activities – mostly outdoors – that we’d like to see photos and/or videos of your family participating in.

Click here to get a larger view of the bingo board. Find five in a row to complete and comment on this Facebook post with photos/videos of your crew completing them for a chance to win a special prize bundle. Complete multiple rows, columns or a diagonal of five to earn multiple entries between now and Jan. 10, and winners will be contacted the week of Jan. 11. Be healthy, enjoy those you’re with and, most importantly, have fun with it!

Winter Session Registration

Registration is open for most Winter activities. Head over to LivoniaParks.org and click into our online registration portal to see more than 600 program options. Due to the Dec. 18 MDHHS order, only swim classes, synchro, and private lessons will begin the week of Jan. 4. All other programs will begin the week of Jan. 18 and run for the full number of planned weeks. Winter II program start dates will therefore be delayed.

If you're still looking for child care for your 5-12 year olds from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily Dec. 28-30, Winter Camp Swoosh at the Kirksey Recreation Center still has spaces available. Pick and choose just the days you need. Cost is $36 per day for Kirksey Recreation Center members, $41 per day for Livonia residents and $46 per day for non-residents. You can register here via LivoniaParks.org.

Mittens

Mittens For Detroit

For thousands of children, teens and adults in Detroit, a single pair of gloves to protect their hands is a luxury they cannot afford. Mittens For Detroit works to provide gloves to them each year, but was unable to hold its annual public collection of new mittens and gloves, which brings in 32,000 pairs each year. MFD is able to purchase pairs at a great discount from its wholesale partner where $35 will purchase five pairs of warm mittens or gloves that would normally retail at $20 each.

The Jack E. Kirksey Recreation Center is once again working to help Mittens for Detroit warm hearts, two hands at a time. Please consider donating now at https://bit.ly/MFD_KirkseyRecCtr. We will also be accepting drop-off donations of gloves and mittens at the Rec Center.
