Outdoor Ice Rink at Greenmead

It may be getting into the coldest portion of winter, but that just means you can enjoy Greenmead’s newest amenity: an outdoor ice rink.

The free, boardless rink is located in the northwest corner of the park near the Farm House and Victory Parkway.

Additionally, when there’s snow, there’s a dedicated space for you to build a snow person or snow animal in the Snow Village! Make sure to snap a pic and show off your creations in this post’s comments.

Visit Greenmead.us for more details on the rink rules.

Dragons Love Tacos stuffed animal

Dragons Love Tacos Feb. 20

Based on the popular "Dragons Love Tacos" children's book, children ages 3-9 are invited to make a stuffed animal dragon, a taco craft, enjoy the book and gather around an outdoor fire Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Kirksey Recreation Center skate park pavilion.

Sign up for 45-minute time blocks at 1, 2 or 3 p.m. at LivoniaParks.org. Space is limited to 20 children per time block, so register today!

Special Event Updates

Although a lot of great events are coming up, the pandemic has forced us to cancel or change a few events initially planned for February. The annual Cardboard Boat Races at the Kirksey Recreation Center and Valentine’s Tea at Greenmead Historical Park are both canceled next month, as is the February Nerf Nights! We are currently registering for the March 5 Nerf Wars! event (grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8).

The Mother/Son and Daddy/Daughter Dances have been rescheduled from February to May 14-15, respectively. They will both be outdoor events at the Recreation Center's inline skating rink. Keep an eye out here and online for details as the April 5 registration kickoff date nears.
