Pool Hours Changing July 26 to Allow Increased Capacities, Safety, Open Water Slides

In an effort to adequately staff the pools and allow for higher capacity limits despite the lifeguarding shortage, we are adjusting pool hours; with most changes effective Monday, July 26. Shelden Pool will close immediately (effective today) and open swim will be eliminated at Botsford Pool starting Monday.

This will allow for an increased capacity at both Clements Circle Pool and the Kirksey Recreation Center Leisure Pool, which will also allow us to have the water slides open almost daily.

The Kirksey Lap Pool will remain also closed through at least Aug. 6 for maintenance and repairs.

Clements Circle Pool will still have open swim for only members and pass holders from noon-4 p.m. Saturdays and 4-6:45 p.m. Sundays.

We are continuing our work to recruit additional lifeguards and are making these changes with safety as our top priority. If you know anyone interested in becoming a lifeguard, please have them email Stephanie at smanoogian@livonia.gov.

Renovation on the Kirksey Recreation Center Lap Pool began July 19 and is anticipated to reopen Aug. 6, but we’ll have lap lanes set up in the Leisure Pool and at Clements Circle Pool during select times for our lap swimmers.

Also, don't miss the registration kickoff for the next session of swim classes Aug. 9, with classes starting the week of Sept. 7.
