Hundreds Head to Bicentennial for Turkey Trot Saturday

We're just a few days out from the biggest race of the season. You can still register for the Healthy Livonia Turkey Trot 5K walk/run taking place 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at Bicentennial Park and have a fun time with a few hundred of your friends!

Canned good donations are also being accepted at the race and will allow entry into a raffle for prizes donated by local businesses. All proceeds and canned food donations will benefit the Livonia Goodfellows in providing Livonia families in need with a Christmas dinner. Anyone unable to drop donations off at the race can also drop them off at the Kirksey Recreation Center this week.

Deck the Rec Deadline Nov. 17

The deadline is just two weeks away for local organizations, businesses and families to help Deck the Rec as they vie for the Best Holiday Tree in Livonia.

There’s a new spin on Deck the Rec. Place your tree at either location: the Kirksey Recreation Center or Greenmead Historical Park. There will be one winner from each location. Each participating group will receive four single-day passes to the Kirksey Recreation Center. Space is limited on this fun contest! Register by Nov. 17.

Participant must provide tree (artificial; at least 5-feet tall) and all decorations (securely attached). Electricity is provided; no open flames are allowed. Participant is responsible for set up on or before Dec. 1 and take-down Dec. 29-30.

Sell or Shop for Treasures from Grandma's Attic Nov. 19-20

Come shop a cornucopia of antiques, collectibles, vintage items, and treasures you would find in grandma's attic in the Alexander Blue House on Friday, Nov. 19, from noon-5 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. No parking fee! Donations will benefit restoration efforts at Greenmead Historical Park.

Interested in being a vendor at Treasures from Grandma's Attic? We're still seeking more vendors. This is a two-day sale and vendors must be present on both days.
