Kirksey Recreation Center Holding Free Open House Jan. 9

Swing by the Kirksey Recreation Center from noon-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, to get a taste of everything the facility has to offer during an open house to kick off the new year!

Get a feel for all the benefits of being a member by learning about or participating in open swim, open play, open basketball, yoga classes, kids club activities, check out Kid Quarters and the Tree Fort indoor playscape, Nerf Night, group fitness classes, wellness coaching, youth classes and a variety of other programs. We’ll have raffles, giveaways and a lot of fun!

This FREE event is open to everyone, regardless of residency or current membership status. Come say “hi” and check out the Kirksey Recreation Center!

Registration Open for New February LivoniaFit Challenge

Do you think you have what it takes? Challenge yourself mentally and physically with a unique indoor event pattered off the new Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT). Lift the heaviest, throw the furthest, complete as many reps as possible and move the fastest. Take on the challenge; the LivoniaFit Challenge!

Join us 8 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, at the Kirksey Recreation Center MAC Gyms for the LivoniaFit Challenge. Heats will begin every 20 minutes and participants will be challenged with completing a deadlift, power throw, hand-release push ups, sprint-drag-carry, TRX pull up and row for distance.

The $40 entry fee includes the event, shirt and refreshments. Register by Feb. 6 to guarantee a T-shirt. Awards will be given to the top male and female in each age division. For additional info, please contact Scott at (734) 466-2912 or sspahr@livonia.gov.

Holiday Hours, Holiday Classes and a Holiday Party

The Greenmead Historical Park offices and Civic Park Senior Center will be closed Thursday-Saturday, Dec. 30-Jan. 1.

The Kirksey Recreation Center will be open regular hours Thursday, but has limited hours from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Dec. 31-Jan. 1; unless you're attending the New Year's Eve Party 4-7 p.m. Dec. 31. Registration required.


Our Winter Break Blast continues to keep you moving with a series of group fitness classes you can attend via drop-in participation daily through Jan. 1. It’s a great way to test out new classes before the winter sessions begin the week of Jan. 3. All fitness levels are welcome. Visit LivoniaParks.org for the full list of classes.
