Greenmead Historical Village will celebrate Women’s History Month with three power lectures focused on women who never gave up nor accepted excuses for the important work they accomplished to make America great. Join Rochelle Danquah at the Alexander Blue House from 6-7:30 p.m. for one or all of the following free lectures. No registration required for lectures.

Ann Shaw Briggs, a Livonia pioneer, migrated to Livonia Township with her family in the 19th-century. This lecture will focus on her diary and letters from Greenmead’s archive, giving us a glimpse into her personal and family life in the community.

Sojourner Truth, a former enslaved African American, was a noted antislavery and women’s suffragist activist. This session will center on her work in the movements in Michigan and America.

Join us on Saturday, March 12, from noon-3 p.m. as we celebrate Women's History Month! This program for children ages 6-12 includes learning about the Michigan women who built the Arsenal of Democracy and coloring a plane glider to take home. Kids will also enjoy snacks popular in the 1940s. Advanced registration required, $15 per child resident, $18 per child non-resident.
