Greenmead Gift Shop Reopens as Delia's Treasures

Delia Jane Cranson was born in 1835. Her father built the Greenmead Historical Park gift shop as a house in the 1830s and expanded it to the current size in 1850, where Delia lived as one of six children until she passed in 1870. In honor of one of our oldest lifelong residents, we’ve rebranded the Hinbern Gift Shop to now be known as Delia’s Treasures.

We continue to offer a unique shopping experience with a variety of gifts you won’t be able to easily find elsewhere. Visit Livonia.gov/1911 to get a glimpse of the shop and learn how you can swing by Greenmead Historical Park to shop for that next special occasion.

Youth Scholarships Available for Upcoming Spring Programs

Did you know there are scholarships available for Livonia youth (ages 17 and younger) to help them participate in Livonia Parks and Recreation programs? Thanks to funding by St. Mary Mercy Livonia through the Healthy Livonia initiative, up to $300 per child may be available to you per year. If eligible, it would cover 85% of a program fee where the family would only have to pay for 15% of the fee out of pocket.

The annual program is first come, first serve as funds remain. Eligibility is based on qualification for a federally funded school lunch program. Visit LivoniaParks.org for details or to apply.

Greenmead Needs Your Votes to Win Knope Award from National Contest

Greenmead Historical Park has been nominated as one of Best Historical and Cultural Places in Local Government through Engaging Local Government Leaders (ELGL).

Greenmead has a long history dating back into the 1800s and family events all year round. Also known as the Knope Award, winning the national award outright comes with a challenge. Out of more than 60 entries, we made the 32-location field that has transformed into a playoff bracket! Here’s some early March Madness for you.

#VoteGreenmead by Friday and help us help us move on to the next round. We’re the only Michigan location to advance into the bracket and we’re up against a New Jersey memorial in the first round. Vote for all 16 match-ups, but make sure we advance in match-up #14!
