Skywarn and Livonia CodeRED

National Weather Service “SKYWARN” Training Program

Livonia’s Emergency Preparedness Department, in conjunction with the Livonia Amateur Radio Club, is sponsoring a FREE National Weather Service “SKYWARN” training program on Monday, May 2 from 7-9 p.m. at the Bennett Civic Center Library. The SKYWARN training program is a partnership between the National Weather Service and our community that is designed to help reduce the threat posed by severe weather. The key element of this partnership is a network of trained volunteer "storm spotters" who relay reports of severe weather to the NWS. Even with available technology, storm spotters are an extremely important component in severe weather warnings. SKYWARN trained residents learn valuable tools to help provide their community with potentially life-saving information. This is a free event. No advance registration is required. For more information, please email Emergency Preparedness Director Brian Kahn at brian.kahn@livoniapd.com.
