Pitch, Hit and Run Brings Back Baseball Skills Competition June 4

The Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run Competition is back! This FREE competition for boys and girls ages 7-14 years old consists of three stations (pitching, hitting, running), with each station scored by Livonia Parks and Recreation staff.

Stop by Bicentennial Park Diamonds 2-3 anytime noon-4 p.m. Saturday, June 4, to test your skills. Aim for the strike zone with six pitches, hit three balls off a tee and see how fast you can get from second base to home plate. The three challenges can be completed in 15-30 minutes. Based on their scores from the categories, participants will have the opportunity to advance to the team championship held at an MLB stadium (2021 was in Comerica Park). Visit Livonia.gov/421 for details or to register through MLB.

Simmons-Hill House Farm

Garden Club Plant Sharing Event Saturday is Open to All

Join the Livonia Garden Club for their annual plant sharing 9-10 a.m. Saturday, May 21, near the Simmons-Hill House at Greenmead Historical Park.

Everyone is welcome to come and share perennials, annual seeds, houseplants and even pots, tags and yard art. There is no charge. The event is a "plant sharing" and not a "plant exchange." Everyone is encouraged to come and take plants whether or not they have anything to share. The club asks people bringing items to share to pot them (plastic pots, bags, etc.) and label, if possible. Garden Club members will assist with plant identification for people bringing in "unknown" plants from their yards.

The plants will be placed on various tables for "sun," "shade," "houseplants," etc. with the assistance of Garden Club members. There will also be a table for free garden-related items. For more information, call (734) 679-2527.
