Qualify for Senior Olympics at Badminton Tournament in Troy

Registration for the Michigan Senior Olympics Badminton Tournament is now open! Register early to ensure your spot Aug. 18-19 at the Troy Community Center (3179 Livernois Road in Troy) for this final official qualifier for the 2023 National Senior Games in Pittsburgh!

Doubles and mixed doubles will play Thursday, with singles action taking place Friday. Both days run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for age groups in five-year increments from 50-54 through 100+. Represent Livonia and advance to the national competition!

Cost to compete is $48, plus a $25 MSO annual membership if you’re not already a member. Registration and more information is available at MichiganSeniorOlympics.org/badminton-summer.

Minds in Motion Camps Provide Campers Analytical Activities

The newest set of Minds in Motion mini camps is coming this summer. Register now to secure your spot for either our CSI Crime Scene Investigation Mini Camp July 11-15 or our Future Engineers Mini Camp Aug. 1-5.

Each camp runs 1-4 p.m. at the Kirksey Recreation Center as campers learn about forensics and solve mysteries in July. They return in August to build eight working models while learning the science and mechanics behind it, and working in groups with STEM lab kits teaching them about circuits.

Heads up for Holiday Hours July 4 and Monthlong Fun

With Independence Day coming up Monday, July 4, the Kirksey Recreation Center will have limited hours from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., while the Greenmead Historical Park offices and the Civic Park Senior Center will both be closed.
