#RecreatingTheRec

In lieu of a full Kirksey Recreation Center closure this year, The Rec will partially close several areas and gyms in the coming week. Both MAC Gyms and the FitHub will be closed Aug. 26-29, with the East FitHub remaining closed until the Livonia Senior Wellness Center is complete. Other facilities will continue operations uninterrupted. The LivoniaBuilt website includes each of these dates and the expanse of each upcoming closure.

Construction began July 16, with exterior site work. The Rec closed the East FitHub (Strength Hub) Aug. 26, so interior construction can begin shortly afterward. The Main Gyms will close in July 2025 once the new West Gym is complete. The full project is expected to be completed in December 2025. You can visit our website to see the specific timeline for each phase. For more details, check out our Frequently Asked Questions.

Are you interested in automotive history? Come join us 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Alexander Blue House, where we will learn how the Studebaker Brothers, Packard Brothers, Charlie Nash, and Joseph L.
