The Rev. Marcus Swift

Pathways to Freedom: The Rev. Marcus Swift and the Wesleyan Antislavery Movement

The Rev. Marcus Swift, a circuit minister for the Methodist Episcopal Church, possessed ardent views against slavery, which led to his dismissal from the denomination. This led to him becoming the Father of the Wesleyan Church movement in Michigan, and establish congregations throughout southeastern Michigan. Join us in the Historic Newburg Church 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, as we welcome Rochelle Danquah, Chairperson of the Michigan Freedom Trail Commission.

This is a free program sponsored by Livonia Libraries and Livonia Parks and Recreation. No registration or tickets are required. You can find this event on Facebook!
