    Eating and Living for Optimal Health Nutrition Seminar- Come learn about healthy eating patterns including portion sizes and what kind of foods to eat. We will learn about the MyPlate guidelines, balanced eating, exercise and most importantly- how to create behavior changes that stick! If you are interested in weight loss, we will be talking about techniques to help with that as well as weight maintenance. Eating the right type and quantity of foods, at the right time, can help keep your energy up while allowing your body to lose weight. Seminar presented by Kirksey Recreation Center Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Noelle Blasch, RDN and owner of Nutrition with Noelle, LLC. Alternate date: Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 9 a.m.

    Yoga Basics Workout – This 45-minute class will emphasize classical yoga posture. The participant moves at his/her own pace to develop focus, strength and flexibility. All levels of fitness are welcome, including beginners. A mat will be provided or you may bring your own.

    Open Climb (Ages 6 & Up) Workout - For ages 6 to adult. Test your climbing skills on the climbing wall. Climb with the aid of your own belayer. Staff belayer will be available, but will be assisting all climbers.

    Join Friends of the Rouge and the City of Livonia for Rain Gardens 101 on Saturday, Jan. 25 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Robert and Janet Bennett Civic Center Library. Learn the essentials you need to bring rain gardens into your life. Get your lawn a job and bring your lawn to life with a rain garden! Find out how having a rain garden can help bees, birds, and butterflies as well as stop flooding and pollution! Learn how they can solve issues at home like icy sidewalks, water in the basement and too much law to mow. Door prizes include a free at-home consultation and more!     THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT! Join us for some FROZEN FUN at the Alexander Blue House on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020 from 1-3 p.m. This children's event will have crafts, snacks, songs, and photos with your favorite Snow Queen! Princess and prince attire encouraged! Advance tickets are required for this event. $9 per child and $9 per adult. Tickets are available at the Greenmead Office in the Alexander Blue House, 20501 Newburgh, M-F, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please be prepared to pay with cash or check only.
