Ladder 1 (l-1)

Ladder-1

L-1 is housed at Station 1 and responds to all commercial and residential fires. Here are some features of L-1:

  • 500-gallon water tank
  • 107-foot ladder with elevated master stream ability
  • Capable of pumping 2,000 gallons of water per minute

L-1 is also a licensed Paramedic unit, with medical supplies and extrication equipment, like the Jaws of Life.

Livonia Fire Department has five frontline engine companies, one assigned to each of its five fire stations, and two reserves. Engines are equipped with a 1,500-gallon-per-minute pump, a 500-gallon water tank, a full complement of fire hoses, ladders, axes, saws, fans, and other equipment. In addition, all fire engines are equipped with a full complement of advanced life-support paramedic equipment.

Livonia Fire Department has five advanced life support ambulances, one at each fire station. They carry our turn-out gear and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBAs) to respond to fires. All Livonia Firefighters are cross-trained as paramedics.

T-1 is housed at Station 3 and responds to all commercial fires. Here are some other features.

  • T-1 is a 2007 American LaFrance
  • 100 ft. platform
  • Capable of pumping 2,500 gallons of water per minute, with dual elevated master streams and rescue capability

Heavy Rescue

R-1 is housed at Fire Station 1. 

  • Carries specialized equipment, like the jaws of life.
  • Rescue 1 responds to all serious car accidents as well as structure fires.

Livonia Fire Department houses Western Wayne County's Hazmat Truck. Several members of the Hazardous Materials Response Team are Livonia Firefighters.
