The American Civil War Experience

Join the 17th Michigan Volunteer Regiment Company E for The American Civil War Experience on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This free living history event will take place at Greenmead Historical Park. There will be demonstrations of military camp life, drills, musket firing, medical practices, surgery, civilian life, period fashions, phrenology, an amazing display of historical reproduction flags and much more! Stop in the village buildings to see some great exhibits and take a tour as well. This event is a great opportunity for students of all ages to learn about life during the Civil War era. Farm to Fork: How to Eat Locally

In this free one-hour session, Registered dietitian and chef Mary Balog will break down elements of food and food culture.

Join "How to Eat Locally" 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21. Learn simple, realistic ways to bring more local food to your everyday meals. We'll cover which foods are in season and how to cook with them. You'll also get tips on seasonal food resources that help you familiarize yourself with local foods in southeast Michigan throughout the year. You'll also get meal planning tips and a few recipes.

This program is free, but registration is required.

Stuff-a-Pet: Werewolves in Livonia

Werewolf squishies are invading the Alexander Blue House 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23! Come capture one of your very own to stuff and take home, and enjoy some other werewolf-themed crafts and activities. Advance registration is required for $25 per child resident and $33 per child non-resident. All children in attendance must be registered and accompanied by an adult. This program is best for ages 4-10. Register online today!
