By virtue of their adherence to secrecy oaths, a desire to avoid the spotlight, and having their accomplishments stolen by others, the history of women in cryptography is still being told. In this presentation, Keith Nabozny will reveal some of the fascinating stories of women who cracked the code! This is a free program at the Alexander Blue House. No registration required.

    Get a feel for the camping life with our monthly S'mores and Stories program at Newburg School Field! We will enjoy roasting s'mores, telling stories and enjoying a variety of activities around the campfire. Everyone loves a good bonfire! This month's theme is Harvest Time. This program is best for children ages 5-12 and all children must be accompanied by an adult (parents do not need to register). Advance registration required for $5 per child resident at LivoniaParks.org.

  3. Sunday Tour at Greenmead

    Come visit yesterday this summer and take a tour of the village buildings. Self-paced tours are from 1 - 4 p.m. Begin at Delia's Treasures Gift Shop (located by the stop sign) for your admission pass. Admission is by donation this year.   4. Guns N' Gowns: A Civil War Encampment Event

    Join the 17th Michigan Volunteer Regiment Company E for Guns n' Gowns on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This free living history event will take place at Greenmead Historical Park, 20501 Newburgh. There will be demonstrations of military camp life, drills, musket firing, medical practices, surgery, civilian life, period fashions, phrenology, an amazing display of historical reproduction flags, and much, much more! Stop in the village buildings to see some great exhibits and take a tour as well. This event is a great opportunity for students of all ages to learn about life during the Civil War era.
