Farmington Road at Joy Road
Northbound Farmington Road will be closed north of Joy Road for pavement repair due to a water main break this past spring. Northbound traffic will be detoured to Merriman Road, then north to Plymouth Road and finally west back to Farmington Road. Local traffic to the side streets north of Joy Road will be available, but the pavement will be blocked off at Orangelawn Avenue, where it is being replaced. Southbound traffic will remain open during the repair of the northbound lane. The closure is expected to last for approximately one week.
Once the northbound lane has been opened, southbound traffic will be closed south of Plymouth Road while they replace the pavement on the west side of the road. During the southbound closure, local traffic will be able to access the businesses south of Plymouth Road, but the roadway will be blocked at Van Court. The southbound closure is expected to last approximately three days.
If you have any questions, please contact the Engineering Department.
Inkster Road from Five Mile to Schoolcraft
Wayne County will be paving Inkster Road from Five Mile to Schoolcraft. Outside lanes will be closed to start milling the existing asphalt and lower storm inlets, concrete patching and curb replacements to allow for new pavement. Construction is anticipated to be completed by Nov. 15.
Wayne Road from Joy Road to Plymouth Road
Wayne County will be paving Wayne Road from Joy Road to Plymouth Road. They will be working on two lanes at a time, so one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction. Wayne County will be closing down the outside lanes first and doing all the curb and structure repairs, then paving them. The first phase is scheduled for six weeks, then, they will switch traffic to those lanes and close down and work on the inside lanes. The inside lane work is scheduled to last four weeks.
I-275
Through mid-November, MDOT has closed the northbound I-275 ramps (Exit 29) to both eastbound I-96 and westbound M-14 for bridge work. Traffic will be detoured further north on I-275 to westbound Seven Mile Road (Exit 169A), then southbound I-275 to the exit ramps to eastbound I-96 and westbound M-14.
This work is part of the Revive275 project. Based on economic modeling, this $270 million investment is expected to indirectly support 3,429 jobs. For more information, visit Revive275.org.
